Course Overview
All nationally accredited qualifications and units of competency are published on a national register, training.gov.au. The way that units are presented on the national register is not designed to be Student friendly, however it is important that you understand that the register exists and that you can look it up if you like.

One of the characteristics of each qualification and unit of competency on the national register is the qualification and/0r unit descriptor. The descriptor is a statement which explains what the purpose of the qualification/unit is and why someone would need to gain this unit of competency or qualification.

The delivery strategy used in this methodology is a combination of online learning modules, supported by tutor contact, self-study and direct contact between student and trainer. The majority of the training to be delivered during this course will be divided between a classroom or workplace environment and an online environment.

The main text book The Australian Carer: A Training Manual for Aged Care Workers Edition 4; has a series of exercises and activities that are designed to reinforce the learning contained in the resource.  Students will be required to undertake selected exercises for each unit as part of a structured self-study program.  This text will also form the basis of pre-reading required prior to attendance at class.

The rationale for this delivery method is detailed above.  For breakdown of face-to-face, self-study and workplace training hours refer to the Program Delivery Plan which appears in the Student Guide.
